About The Project

Save the Children Türkiye, which has been active since 2013 due to the conditions that emerged with the Syrian humanitarian crisis in our country, continues its support activities with more than 50 employees, in the regions where children and families in need are concentrated, with offices in Istanbul and Hatay.

The main purpose of our peer bullying project, which is funded by Save the Children Finland and to be completed by 30 July 2021, is to prevent physically and verbally abusive and harmful behaviours among the children of the similar age group towards each other or a single child in face to face or digital environments as well as to eliminate serious negative effects of peer bullying on children, which may otherwise lead to dropping out of school. For this purpose, we aimed to produce a board game and a digital game to address the problem of peer bullying, in cooperation with Avcılar Leyla Bayram Primary School and Root. We carried out child rights-based workshops with the groups of children consisting of 3rd and 4th grade students attending Leyla Bayram Primary School. Thanks to the support of the school administration, teachers and families; we completed the development stages of the board game and the digital game in a child-led process where children had a say on the details such as the visual design, mechanics and characters of the game.

As an outcome of these workshops, the children named our game as “Inter Universal Adventure” (officially “Evrenler Arası Macera” in Turkish). All individuals aged 7 and above can easily play our educational and entertaining game that mitigates the negative effects of peer bullying and instils goodness at its core. Our game, by which we expect to make a significant contribution into social cohesion efforts, is designed in 4 languages with content available in Turkish, Arabic, Persian and English, to ensure inclusion of the refugee communities in our country.

While the board game will initially be disseminated at the schools located in Avcılar district of Istanbul, starting with our partner Leyla Bayram Primary School, you can access a print & play version of the board game and a digital version compatible with Android and Windows platforms along with detailed information about the project and the game by visiting download page.
